Position: Police Chief

Agency: City of Winfield, KS

The City of Winfield (pop. 12,000), located 30 miles southeast of Wichita, is seeking an

experienced leader to assume the position of Police Chief. This position is responsible for a

budget of $2 million and 37 sworn and civilian personnel. Areas of responsibility include all

law enforcement activities, parking control, and enhanced 911 communications. The Chief

will evaluate consolidating emergency dispatch; future facility needs; address the challenge

of recruiting police officers; provide leadership for responding to the needs of our changing

society and community demographics. This position will require residency within 20 minutes

of the Winfield city limits within six months of employment. Winfield has been listed among

the top 100 small cities in America. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree (strongly desirable) or

equivalent combination of education/experience in addition to 10 years of progressively

responsible law enforcement experience. The ideal candidate will have excellent public and

interpersonal communications skills, ability to provide solutions to sensitive issues, and

have a proven record of interagency cooperation. Salary DOQ with excellent benefits. This

position is open until filled; however, the first review of candidates will begin November 26.

Position: Chief of Police

Agency: Nether Providence Police Department, PA

Salary: DOQ

Deadline: 11/21/2008

Consideration will be given to persons with a minimum of 10 years in law enforcement of which

five (5) are in a managerial or supervisory position. Applicants must be Pennsylvania Act 120

certified or obtain Act 120 certification within one year and possess or have the ability to readily

obtain a valid Pennsylvania Motor Vehicle operators license. Applicants must possess a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university (advanced degree preferred) in a field that demonstrates preparation for an executive role in police management. Preferred applicants will have graduated from an advanced police command training such as the FBI National Academy or POLEX, FBI Law Enforcement Executive Development School or the PA Chiefs of Police Association Command Institute. A comprehensive medical examination, psychological analysis and extensive background investigation will be required prior to appointment. Nether Providence Township, Delaware County, Pennsylvania (pop. 14,000 approx.) seeks a Police Chief with significant police experience to work in a diverse suburban community. Nether Providence is located approximately 15 miles southwest of Philadelphia. The successful candidate will be knowledgeable about modern police procedures, able to establish a rapport with police officers, be a strong creative leader who is able to work collaboratively with staff, elected officials, and the diverse communities within the area, and be proficient with development and maintenance of Standard Operating Procedures. The candidate should be a good communicator and listener, familiar with community policing and will be directly responsible to effectively manage a minimum of 14 full time officers and two civilian

support personnel. The Chief serves under the direction of the Township Manager and has

responsibility for the organizational, operational and administrative functions of the Police

Department. Competitive benefits package with salary negotiable depending on qualifications and experience. Successful candidate will be required to reside within 20 miles of Nether Providence Township within one year of appointment. Nether Providence Township is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
